Avian Influenza

Avian influenza is an infectious disease caused by various strains of influenza A viruses, impacting wild birds, poultry, and occasionally humans. Notable strains include H5N1 (detected in 1997) and H7N9 (identified in 2013). These can also affect mammals, especially in severe cases. Human infections are rare and occur mainly through close contact with infected birds.
